one fine day i won't have one fine day i won't give one fine day i will just be and then i'm breaking free i'll leave it all behind i want to follow that way but sirens sing they call my name to keep me in this game addicted to consumption a slave of materiality false suns keep blinding me to bring me of my way the bigger my greed is the narrower the way becomes and sirens sing they call my name to keep me in this game and sirens scream right in my ear temptation is so near one step closer to the end... consumption how bitter-sweet satisfaction can't be gained through the possession of useless goods the desire to get and posses increases the fear to lose it all it paralyses all my action more and more and more and more

so burned out and so hollow emptiness is all that i feel so easy to point out the others' mistakes and so dishonest with myself doubts are all that is left in me they're growing steadily everything is moving but i seem to be stuck forever the illusion to be happy just collapsed again and all the mechanisms i've created fail i am smiling but inside i cry i am laughing but inside i burst with rage i wonder why i do the same mistake over and over again almost sure i'll do it i could change everything surrounding me to build another reality too weak to change my desire too smart to fall for my own lies and so i keep consuming trying desperately to fill myself

our battle, our struggle, is to create art. our poetry will be shadows that lengthen and conceal our light will play across living faces that laugh and agonize and our music will linger and finally overwhelm because it will have a context as certain as the grave we are scientist engaged in the creation of memory but our memory will neither blur nor fade

once they gathered, fought and found what they believed to become the eternal reign convinced of their superiority, they lived an illusion blinded by the victories / poisoned through the comfort the ghosts of the decadence arose the ghosts of the decadence arose the empire suffocated by itself corruption, lethargy and slavery was all that remained the eternal reign drowned in human weakness again some gathered and created the foundation of the perfect system: lies! and with the knowledge of the past laws were passed to conserve the reign convinced of only their ideas, they suppressed freedom heading exactly the same way as their ancient idols they were marching towards the certain end protected by the most powerful weapons creating an economy to ease the living trying everything to keep the structures they built up an illusion drowning in corruption, lethargy and slavery your power will fade away only ruins will remain nothing lasts forever; it's a waste of time and history repeats itself

about

Germany's FEAR MY THOUGHTS has been described as a band that went from playing hardcore to more modern metalcore. But truth be told, their 3rd album, "the great collapse" isn't pure, unadulterated metalcore. Although metalcore is definitely an influence - a strong one. In fact, what FEAR MY THOUGHTS does on this release is best described as an intriguing blend of post-hardcore/metal aesthetic and the melodic death-metal style that one associates with At The Gates, In Flames, and other Nordic headbangers. "the great collapse" ends up sounding like a much more progressive metalcore act than you're used to hearing. In addition, the 10 songs are allowed to develop and really come into their own. This is modern metalcore that you just can't resist if you're even vaguely into a hard, brutal sound. There's enough creativity in the songwriting and the meticulous riffing to hold anyone's attention. "the great collapse" puts FEAR MY THOUGHTS alongside Caliban and Heaven Shall Burn as one of the best European metalcore acts in recent memory.
